Colleagues from Eeepc.it reviewed CrunchEee, a new Linux distribution customized for the Eee PC netbook line.
CrunchEee 8.10 is a derivative of CrunchBang Linux, an Ubuntu Ibex based distribution, with OpenBox as the Window manager. The result is a fast, lightweight environment, suitable for netbooks.

The desktop’s right side contains a dynamic panel with various system informations, such as CPU and memory usage, wireless signal strength and much more.
The system boots in less than a minute. A right button click will unveil the application menu. You can move easily between desktops by scrolling the mouse wheel.
CrunchEee comes with Firefox 3, Skype, Claws email client, Pidgin messenger, or Transmission BitTorrent client. You will find Eee-Control as well, to tweak your Eee PC’s hardware settings easily.
A video of CrunchEee in action follows.
You can download and try CrunchEee from the official page.
