Asus uncovered details about a new Desktop Eee PC designed for data storage and access.

Eee D200 specification

  • CPU: Intel Atom N270, at 1.6GHz, 2.5W TDP
  • RAM: 2GB DDR2, 533MHz
  • Storage: Two SATA 3.5″ HDD, for 2TB, RAID 0
  • Networking: Wifi N MIMO router, 4 LAN
  • Ports: 4 USB
  • Audio: 6 Channel
  • On-board memory: 512MB ROM
  • DVD drive: Slot-in DVD-RW
  • DVI output
  • Touch panel: 3.5″ LCD
  • Dimensions: 10.83″x3.79″x8.11″ (275mm x 98mm x 206mm)
  • OS: Windows XP

The Eee family will be welcoming a new desktop member, with quite specific characteristics.

The Intel Atom N270 is a low consumption, energy saving CPU, that will help keeping the noise under 28dB.

Easy to share, save and access

Sharing data, music and video will be really easy with the D200, as it has a wireless router built-in. With a server running, it could do wonders as a NAS or a multimedia server.

The D200 comes with two hard disks for up to 2TB of data, supporting RAID0 for increased performance and lower data seek time.

A touch sensitive 3.5″ panel is present on the from, to display and operate with informations.

The 512 MB of on-board ROM memory will probably contain an instant on Linux OS.

A Slot-in DVD Drive completes the Eee D200, another surprising product by Asustek.
