March 5, 2008 – 4:34 am

We will review how to import your existing firefox profile on your Asus EEE PC. You will be able to save your bookmarks, passwords, theme or plugins.

1) Find your firefox profile

  • under Windows XP, you have to go to C:\Documents and Settings\’your_login’\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

You will find a folder named ********.default. Please note that the ApplicationData folder is hidden as a system folder by default.

  • under Linux, the path is ~/.mozilla/firefox/
  • under Windows Vista, C:\Users\your_login\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

You can paste it directly into the address bar of explorer to see hidden folders.

  • for mac osx user, the path is ~/Library/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/

2) Copy the ‘********.default’ named folder to a SD card or a USB key

3) Paste that folder from the SD card or the USB key to the EEE PC on a location of your choice.

4) On your EEE PC, press ctrl+alt+t to open the terminal and type the command: firefox -ProfileManager

linux terminal firefox

5) Create a new profile. You will have to enter a new profile name, and then click on Choose Folder. Now you can find the ********.default folder you did paste at the third step, and click on finish. Choose your new profile, keep checked ‘Don’t ask at startup’, and start firefox.
