Fluxflux eee has been released in a new 2008-06 version…

We had a previous look at fluxflux-eee two months ago. Since then, the live distribution has grown up into a well perfected system for the eee pc.

You can find instructions and download fluxflux-eee from the official page, either as an ISO image, or as a tar.gz archive, you can decompress to a flash drive and make it bootable from windows or linux.

I’ve had a poltergeist experience during the first boot…

My standard laptop running Mandriva installed the bootloader on sdb1, so there were no problems there, I edited the Boot options line with bootfrom=/dev/sdb1 and fluxflux booted as expected.

Running the configure network script, the WPA wifi connection with my router was set promptly. Wifi works really fine.

Hotkeys combinations work, even the Fn+F1 put the eee to sleep.

Under configuration scripts you will find tools to manipulate the eee pc’s fan speed, to send files to a mobile phone connected over bluetooth, or install fluxflux to the SSD with Draklive.

I did a full install on a single ext3 partition without swap, the process was straightforward and took only about 10mn, some 2GB of free space were left afterwards on the SSD.
