4 Mar 2009Asus has presented a new touchscreen enabled Eee PC at the CeBIT 2009.

With the Eee PC T91, Asus sets the course for future Eee PCs. A beautifuly designed netbook, light and compact, with a great set of features.
The major improvement is the presence of a touchscreen, which is a far better input interface for web browsing, taking notes, editing pictures on a mobile device, than touchpads. The screen can be flipped by up to 180°. A poulsbo chipset will provide a smooth HD video reproduction, at a reduced energy consumption.
The integrated GPS will be a wonder with the 8.9″ touchscreen for car navigation, and open the way to some interesting uses, like a synchronization with co-workers on Google Maps.
The 3G+ high speed mobile internet suggests partnership possibilites with mobile operators, for combined offers.
The clean design created a serious drawback: the battery is integrated, and cannot be replaced without opening the Eee T91. If you have to work on the field, you cannot extend battery life with a secondary battery. Li-Ion batteries have a tendancy to lose capacity after a certain period of use, and you will have to send the netbook to Asus’ customer service for replacement.
Asus even thought of a digital television tuner, turning the new Eee into a portable TV.
The price is not available yet, but the T91 will continue to drive the Eee PC product line away from the low cost trend.
